Summary
- Denmark’s NemHandelsregister (NHR) API will be updated on 12 August 2026. Endpoints, HTTP methods and request parameters are unchanged; only the JSON response structure changes. Integrating systems must adjust how they parse responses. A demo environment is available for testing since 25 June 2026. [nemhandel.dk], [fiscal-req…ements.com]
- Breaking changes rename fields in the profile and role objects from camelCase to PascalCase (e.g. id → Id, peppolEnabled → IsPeppolEnabled, nemhandelAs4Enabled → IsNhAs4Enabled). Old duplicate peppolEnabled disappears. Two new booleans on participant: ActiveInDkSml / ActiveInEuSml. [nemhandel.dk]
- Additions (non-breaking but recommended): CertificateBindings on receiver services (enabling planned certificate rotation with activation/expiration dates), DocumentStandardId and NetworkTypeId on profile, and a documented lastModifiedString timestamp field. [nemhandel.dk]
Article
Denmark’s NemHandel team has scheduled the next update to the NHR API (the lookup service of the Nemhandelsregister) for 12 August 2026. As NemHandel confirms, the endpoints, HTTP methods and request parameters are unchanged — the impact is on how responses are parsed. Systems integrating with the API should therefore review their JSON parsers and validate the new structure against the demo environment (api-demo.nemhandel.dk), which has been available since 25 June 2026. The breaking changes are:
- profile object — camelCase fields renamed to PascalCase (id → Id, name → Name, profileId → ProfileId, etc.) and two boolean flags renamed: nemhandelAs4Enabled → IsNhAs4Enabled and peppolEnabled → IsPeppolEnabled. The legacy peppolEnabled disappears (only IsPeppolEnabled remains).
- role object — same PascalCase renaming (id, name, roleId).
The non-breaking additions worth adopting:
- On participant: ActiveInDkSml and ActiveInEuSml (booleans indicating whether the participant is registered in Denmark’s and the EU SML respectively — “green”/”red” status);
- On receiver services (ReceiverService): a new list CertificateBindings, each with Id, CertificateId, ReceiverServiceId, ActivationDate, ExpirationDate and lastModifiedString — enabling planned certificate rotation;
- On profile: DocumentStandardId and NetworkTypeId;
- Documentation of the last-modified timestamp as lastModifiedString. [nemhandel.dk]
The update follows Denmark’s broader NemHandel modernisation (see the May 2026 NHR-CORE performance release and the November 2025 NHR SMP/PoRS release) and lies on the critical path to Peppol PINT and NemHandel BIS 4 by 2028–2029, which will replace OIOUBL as the default Danish invoice format.
