- Belgium has approved a new law for near real-time VAT e-reporting, effective January 1, 2028, requiring both suppliers and customers to report a subset of invoice data via Peppol infrastructure.
- This dual-sided reporting aims to enhance compliance and provide tax authorities with faster, more reliable data for fraud analysis, and will replace the annual client listing for affected taxpayers.
- The e-reporting system builds on Belgium’s existing mandatory B2B e-invoicing (from 2026) and aligns with the upcoming EU ViDA Digital Reporting Requirements, utilizing the Peppol ViDA Tax Data Document dataset to ensure interoperability.
