EU postpones import tax on trade in plug-in cars with UK for 3 years

The European Commission plans to propose a three-year delay on implementing tariffs for electric vehicles in trade with the United Kingdom, as per insiders cited by Bloomberg news agency. The Brexit agreement mandates a 10% import tax on electric cars with less than 45% British or European value starting in the new year, unless the car meets the 45% threshold and can be traded without tariffs. Car manufacturers, the UK, and most EU countries have requested a postponement until 2027. The commission is currently presenting the plan to EU member states.
