In business administration, it is a winged expression: control is good, trust is even better. In short, the idea behind this is that an employee who is trusted by his employer to make decisions will be more motivated than an employee who always needs his employer’s approval for decisions. A recent judgment of the Court of Justice shows that an employer who gives his employee (too) much freedom can run into a hefty VAT bill if an employee betrayed his trust.
