- Belgium’s Council of Ministers has approved a proposal for the introduction of an electronic invoicing mandate for domestic transactions between local taxpayers.
- The plan to expand the mandate to business-to-business transactions has failed previously, but there is now a greater chance of success.
- The mandate could be introduced as early as January 1, 2026. Belgium favors the PEPPOL network for interoperability and the first draft of the bill has been submitted for review.
- The mandate is expected to be introduced all at once, rather than gradually.
