- The United Nations has endorsed a resolution to create a legally binding international agreement to tackle plastic waste and pollution.
- The agreement aims to address the full lifecycle of plastic, including production, design, and disposal, with the objective of reducing plastic waste and pollution.
- The European Union has already introduced a “plastic levy” based on the amount of non-recycled plastic packaging waste produced by each member state. Other countries are also targeting the use of plastic products to cut plastic waste and move towards a circular economic model.
