According to the presentation held in March 2023, a timeline for the phased introduction and implementation of e-Invoicing has been introduced by the Inland Revenue Board (IRB). Preparation and beginning of a pilot project for selected companies would come into force in 2023. However the specific information about the type of e-Invoicing system has yet to be announced publicly. The shared timeline by the IRB is as follows :
- January 2024 : Businesses will be able to implement e-Invoicing voluntarily
- June 2024 : Mandatory implementation for businesses with annual turnover of MYR 100 million
- January 2025 : Mandatory implementation for businesses with annual turnover of MYR 50 million
- January 2026 : Mandatory implementation for businesses with annual turnover of MYR 25 million
- January 2027 : Mandatory implementation for all businesses
