Venezuela Simplifies Online Customs Procedures and Reduces Documentation Requirements

  • SENIAT’s Notice SNAT/2026/5076 immediately simplifies Venezuelan customs procedures by reducing documentary requirements for imports/exports, tariff classification and valuation requests, customs service provider authorizations, and special customs regimes.
  • Customs authorities may no longer require several documents where they are already on file or verifiable digitally, including copies of ID cards, RIF certificates, income tax returns, printed SIDUNEA documents, originals of electronic QR-coded documents, and previously accepted powers of attorney.
  • Customs offices must apply SIDUNEA selectivity channels strictly: green channel means no review or inspection, yellow means documentary review only, and red means documentary review plus physical inspection.
  • If a declarant identifies errors and duties/taxes have not yet been paid, customs offices must cancel the registered customs declaration within one business day.
  • Certain approvals are decentralized to local customs offices, including procedures for vehicle-use certificates under the Passenger Baggage Regime and several export-related customs regimes.
