- Slovakia is considering the reintroduction of VAT security deposits ranging from EUR 5,000 to EUR 500,000 where the tax authority has reasonable grounds to believe that VAT may not be paid. The mechanism could affect new applicants as well as certain persons during their first 12 months of registration. [accace.com]
- The proposal would strengthen voluntary registration checks and allow up to 60 days for decisions where the applicant’s status or information is uncertain or a security deposit is required. New registration-cancellation grounds would target persistent non-filing, non-payment, non-cooperation, inaccessible business locations and fictitious invoicing. [accace.com]
- The proposals remain subject to the legislative process. The security-deposit mechanism is envisaged from 1 January 2027, while some related measures were drafted with earlier dates that may shift. Businesses should therefore monitor the final law rather than implementing the published proposal as enacted legislation. [accace.com]
