Extended article

The United Arab Emirates has released version 1.0.4 of the AE Tax Data Document (TDD) specification as part of its ongoing e-invoicing rollout. The Tax Data Document is a core component of the UAE’s Peppol-based e-invoicing framework, carrying the tax reporting data associated with transactions.

The update becomes mandatory on 4 August 2026 for Service Providers. Ahead of that date, Service Providers may already begin testing their implementations against the latest Peppol Testbed to confirm compliance with the revised rules and to identify any issues in advance.

The changes in v1.0.4 are limited to the Tax Data Document. They include stricter Schematron rules, improved validation error messages, and corrections to metadata issues. The Billing and Self-Billing specifications are not affected by this release. The release notes are available here: docs.peppol.eu – AE TDD release notes.
