- The Government of The Gambia has officially approved an e-invoicing system for VAT and other taxes, announced by the Gambia Revenue Authority (GRA) on June 22, 2026. This initiative is part of a broader government digitalization agenda aimed at modernizing tax administration and boosting revenue collection.
- The new e-invoicing system is expected to significantly improve compliance with tax obligations, enhance transparency in business transactions, and strengthen overall tax administration through more accurate reporting. Ultimately, these improvements aim to increase domestic revenue collection, supporting national development goals.
- Before a nationwide rollout, the GRA will conduct a pilot phase involving selected taxpayers from various economic sectors. This pilot, governed by an approved Electronic Invoicing System Regulation, will allow the tax authority to test, refine, and optimize the system to ensure its effectiveness prior to full implementation across the country.
