Article Oman’s rollout of its Peppol-based e-invoicing framework advanced meaningfully with the go-live, on 28 June 2026, of Release 2 of the Fawtara platform. This release marks the formal opening of the Service Provider Accreditation process, a prerequisite for third-party providers wishing to serve taxable persons under the future mandatory e-invoicing regime.

Under the accreditation process, service providers must complete mandatory OpenPeppol testing as well as the Oman Test Suite, and submit the corresponding evidence to the Tax Authority for review. In parallel, Release 2 empowers taxpayers, via the Fawtara Portal, to onboard, select and manage their service provider relationships — a foundational capability ahead of the mandatory rollout. Oman is thereby following the operational blueprint of the region, aligning closely with the Peppol 5-Corner approach also seen in the UAE, Saudi Arabia (ZATCA) and Malaysia.
