- The Council has provisionally agreed on new rules to enhance access to VAT data and improve cooperation among EU investigative bodies like EPPO and OLAF.
- These new measures grant EPPO and OLAF direct access to information on cross-border business transactions, including data from Eurofisc, to accelerate investigations and improve coordination against VAT fraud.
- The enhanced cooperation framework aims to reduce significant VAT fraud losses, particularly from cross-border VAT fraud, and will enter into force twenty days after its publication in the Official Journal of the European Union, following the European Parliament’s opinion and formal adoption by the Council.
- The new rules are part of an amendment to Council Regulation 904/2010 on administrative cooperation and combating VAT fraud.
