- Lithuania’s government adopted Legal Act XV-287 on June 20, changing the VAT rate structure.
- A new reduced VAT rate of 12% will start on 1 January 2026, replacing the current 9% rate.
- Affected goods and services include accommodation, passenger transport, cultural events, and books.
- Exceptions include thermal energy and water supply, which keep the 9% rate until 31 December 2025.
- Accommodation reservations and payments for transport and events made before 31 December 2025 will retain the 9% rate, even if services occur in 2026.
