An Overview of E-invoicing mandates in 2024: Israel, Malaysia, the United States

  • E-invoicing is a global transformation happening in multiple countries, offering efficiency and transparency in financial processes.
  • Israel has implemented a live reporting mechanism for invoices above a certain value, with compliance being crucial for sellers and customers. The formal mandate is set to begin on May 5, 2024.
  • Malaysia will introduce mandatory e-invoicing starting from August 2024, with a focus on large enterprises initially. The PEPPOL network will facilitate invoice exchange, and smaller businesses can use a free portal provided by the tax authority.
  • The United States lacks a federal-level VAT or GST system, and e-invoicing initiatives are more likely to emerge at the state level. The Federal Reserve and the Business Payment Coalition are leading an initiative to establish an interoperability network, enabling seamless invoice exchange across the country.
  • Comarch offers an e-invoicing system that helps companies achieve global compliance with tax regulations in over 60 countries, simplifying the complexity of e-invoicing mandates and e-reporting regulations.
