The Road to E-Invoicing Mandates in the United States – Part Two

  • The Business Payments Coalition’s market pilot is the culmination of years of development aimed at redefining how American businesses manage their invoicing.
  • The pilot focused on establishing common standards, formats, and an open, secure network for the exchange of invoices among American businesses.
  • Over 90 diverse entities participated in the pilot, including service providers, large corporates, financial institutions, and business-to-business networks.
  • The Digital Business Networks Alliance oversees the broader ecosystem of invoice service providers within the new delivery network, aiming to operate an electronic delivery exchange network accessible to all companies in the U.S.
  • The network facilitates the digital delivery of any invoice, enabling customers of all service providers to communicate seamlessly.
  • It employs a four-corner model and adheres to international standards such as UBL 2.1 and the AS4 protocol, ensuring a high level of interoperability.
  • The framework provides benefits such as streamlining diverse invoice formats, codes, and information, and providing a unified connection point for buyers.
