Publication of Guidelines on Default Values for the Transitional Period of CBAM

  • The European Commission has published guidelines on default values for the transitional period of the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM).
  • These default values can be used to determine embedded emissions in imported goods.
  • The use of default values is allowed until July 31, 2024, after which it is only allowed for a maximum of 20% of total embedded emissions and only for complex goods.
  • The European Commission has also published an updated version of the document “Questions and Answers: Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM)”.
  • This document provides answers to frequently asked questions and dilemmas.
  • Additional material on specific sectors of goods covered by CBAM is also available on the website.
  • For questions regarding CBAM obligations, contact cbam.fu(at)gov.si.
  • For technical assistance, contact the Sector for Central User Support at sd.fu(at)gov.si or call 05 297 68 00.
