The EU Commission has released Default Values for the Transitional Period of the EU CBAM from 1 October 2023 to 31 December 2025. Importers can use default values for reporting until 31 July 2024 without quantitative limits. Up to 31 July 2024, 100% of total embedded emissions can be determined using default values. After this date, estimated values with a quantitative limit may be used. Businesses subject to CBAM reporting should use these values for their first mandatory CBAM report by 31 January 2024. PwC Belgium CBAM experts are available to assist with compliance. Importers are encouraged to reach out with any questions or concerns causing delays.
