Greece enacted Law 5073/2023 on 11 December 2023, introducing new reporting obligations for payment service providers from 1 January 2024 as per Council Directive (EU) 2020/284. This directive requires payment service providers in the EU to monitor cross-border payees and report information on those receiving more than 25 cross-border payments per quarter to Member States’ administrations, aiming to combat VAT fraud.
