- E-invoicing obligations are becoming more common in Europe, with national announcements and initiatives such as ViDA and the related Council Directive proposal driving the trend.
- However, there are delays in the timing of their introduction as individual EU Member States hesitate to introduce rules that could become obsolete with the implementation of ViDA.
- Germany has proposed an e-invoicing obligation from 01.01.2026 for domestic B2B transactions,
- while Belgium’s plans are on hold until after the summer break.
- France’s introduction of e-invoicing is being postponed, with a potential introduction in 2026,
- while Poland has passed a law for obligatory e-invoicing from 1 July 2024.
- Romania has also received approval for a broad e-invoicing obligation.
