- The European Commission intends to amend the existing rules on administrative cooperation and the fight against VAT fraud in order to reduce the loss of tax revenue due to fraud and other economic contingencies, which amounted to EUR 93 billion for the EU as a whole in 2020.
- This is a proposal for a regulation seeking views through a public consultation, open for the period from 6 July 2023 to 3 August 2023.
- The consultation is followed by the impact assessment and subsequent adoption by the Commission, scheduled for Q1 2023 and Q2 2024, respectively.
