Service tax on goods delivery services was proposed in the Budget 2022 (tabled in October 2021) and was slated to go live on 1 July 2022. However, the RMCD announced at the eleventh hour that this would be postponed to a future date to-be-announced. Recently, the RMCD held a sharing session online with delivery service industry players to provide more information on the proposed mechanism of service tax on the goods delivery services.
