1. What is the general legislative framework regulating packaging and plastic waste in your jurisdiction?
There are several legislative acts that regulate packaging and plastics waste. The most important include the Act on Sustainable Waste Management, the Bylaw on Packaging and Packaging Waste, the Regulation on Management of Packaging Waste and the Regulation on Management of Municipal Waste.
The Act on Sustainable Waste Management regulates measures for preventing or reduction of harmful effects of waste on human health and environment by way of reducing the amount of waste. This Act regulates waste management without the use of processes, which pose a risk to human health and the environment, while using the valuable properties of waste.
