Following the publication of the Value Added Tax (Decrease in rate of tax) Order, 2022 in Botswana’s official gazette on 1 August 2022, the Botswana Unified Revenue Service (BURS) has issued a guidance note on the transitional VAT rules. Under the transitional provisions, the standard VAT rate is reduced from 14% to 12% for six months as from 3 August 2022.
