In accordance with the principle that the polluter pays, littering fees are introduced. Here you will find support and information about the various fees.
The purpose of the fees is to reduce the negative impact that littering of single-use products outdoors has on the environment. This is to be achieved by producers taking the financial responsibility for the waste management of the litter. Certain products are therefore subject to a littering fee which the producers must pay. The Swedish Environmental Protection Agency distributes most of the littering fees to the municipalities as compensation for cleaning up the litter. Various actors also have a responsibility to spread information about littering.
