In Uniqa Asigurari SA, the CJEU has considered how insurance claims handling services should be characterised for VAT purposes. Uniqa is a Romanian insurer that offered international motor insurance and medical insurance policies, and developed partnerships with claims handlers across the EU to help deal with any claims that originated abroad.
