After being postponed several times, the Italian Plastic Tax will enter into force on 1-1-2023.
The tax will apply to MACSI – Manufactured products for single use. The tax will be very similar to the one already in place in the UK and the one that will enter into force in Spain on the same date as the Italian tax will.
The scope will be all plastics except for compostable plastics, recycled plastic and plastic which is used for medical ends. The tax will be 450 EUR per tonne of plastics and must be reported quarterly, identical to the UK Tax.
