Next year, no VAT will be levied on solar panels for private individuals – in all likelihood. The cabinet wants to get rid of the levy because it creates administrative burdens for private individuals and the tax authorities.
A VAT rate of 21 percent is now levied on solar panels. Private individuals with solar panels on their homes who supply electricity to energy companies are seen as small entrepreneurs. This allows them to reclaim the VAT from the tax authorities.
