Finance Minister Vincent Van Peteghem (CD&V) is in favor of a ‘smart VAT reduction’. He wants to lower the VAT on energy to 6 percent from 1 February. But the energy suppliers warn the federal government that it is practically unfeasible to settle a VAT reduction on energy from 1 February (next Tuesday).
