Bulgarian Ministry of Finance announced a public consultation regarding a draft suggesting a 9% value-added tax on certain goods and services, lower than the standard rate of 20%.
9% VAT is currently levied on books, food, non-alcoholic drinks, wine, and beer served in establishments, general baby foods, and diapers. For the proposed legislation to be passed, Bulgaria needs to format functioning parliament, which can only be formed after the November 14 early general election.
