The Tanzanian tax administration continues to modernize its financial data management system (EFDMS – Electronic Fiscal Device Management System ), through the implementation of a brand new system (the VFD – Virtual Fiscal Device ) . The latter will replace its predecessor (the EFD – Electronic Fiscal Device ) .
The reference tax authority (TRA – Tanzania Revenue Authority ) has developed the VFD system which will coexist with the current EFD system in order to allow taxpayers to send electronic invoices.
The VFD is a system that automates not only the sending of electronic invoices to the TRA, but also the receipt of acknowledgments of validation of invoices made by the tax administration.
Declarations via the VFD can be made in addition to the use of other IT systems or tools, such as point of sale (POS) management solutions or invoicing solutions. This interconnection should allow taxpayers to send their invoices directly to the TRA, without necessarily using physical DFS.
