As many as 75 of the 78 investment funds that went to court because of the VAT exemption that they are in danger of losing, leave the Netherlands. From 1 January, the managers of the funds are due VAT on asset management. This tax significantly reduces the proceeds for the participants.
The first relocations have been a fact since last week, says Steffens. There is no tax on the remuneration of fund managers in Ireland. The Dutch tax authorities will scrap the VAT exemption on asset management as of 1 January.
