VAT specialist Anne Marieke Smits, partner at BDO, argues for extra attention for VAT measures due to Covid-19:
- An extra quarter for VAT payment
- From year to quarter for VAT refund on bad debts
- VAT leniency for catering entrepreneurs for their gifts to food banks etc. (strictly speaking a withdrawal of goods)
- Spread of VAT payment on down payments over a longer period of time (travel and events industry that use Corona-vouchers). More clarity about the VAT impact of cancellations and (partial) refunds.
- Change frequency of VAT filings from month to quarter
