In a letter sent on 25 September 2019, US House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Richard Neal, D-Mass., laid out to Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and US Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer what he described as “significant concerns” about unilateral tax measures targeting US companies – most notably France’s new digital services tax (DST) – and requested clarification on the administration’s recent discussions with French officials.
