Since January 5, 2015, sector 71 of the Dutch National Waste management Plan says that Waste of Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) cannot be classified as green listed waste in the context of the Waste Shipment Regulation (WSR). For transboundary shipments of WEEE a notification procedure is always required.
Shipping of WEEE into the Netherlands is only possible when the WEEE goes to a WEEELABEX certified recycling company or to a company that does not disassemble the equipment itself. A company that does not disassemble the equipment itself a WEEELABEX certification is not mandatory. It is also possible that institutions operate under the responsibility of a WEEELABEX certified company.
