New BIC code as from 15 December 2025 for payments to government’s accounts

New BIC Code: Starting 15 December 2025, the BIC code for payments to Belgian federal government accounts will be GEBABEBB.
Reason for Change: BNP Paribas Fortis will take over the federal government’s public accounts from bpost during the weekend of 13–14 December 2025.
IBAN Numbers: These remain unchanged and can be recognized by digits 679 in positions 5–7.
Important Dates:
- 12 December 2025: bpost will close federal accounts; avoid making payments that day.
- 1 December 2025: Postal orders and international mandates will no longer be accepted.
Payments from outside Europe: Using the correct BIC code is mandatory.
