Slovakia continues advancing toward e-invoicing

  • E-Invoicing Mandate Preparation: Slovakia is progressing toward mandatory e-invoicing and e-reporting, with a draft law published on July 30, 2025, and plans for implementation starting January 1, 2027, for domestic taxpayers.
  • Infrastructure Development: The Financial Administration (FA) announced a public tender on November 7, 2025, for building the Service Metadata Provider (SMP), a key element in the future e-invoicing infrastructure that will support the exchange of electronic documents via the Peppol network.
  • Compliance with Standards: E-invoices must adhere to the European EN16931 standard, aiming for a fully electronic process from issuance to receipt, with cross-border e-invoicing expected to begin on July 1, 2030, in accordance with the EU’s ViDA legislation.
