Non-alcoholic wine and energy drinks with 23% VAT?

  • Upcoming VAT Rate Increase: The Polish government plans to amend the Value Added Tax Act, raising the VAT rate on non-alcoholic equivalents of alcoholic beverages to 23%, as announced on the Prime Minister’s Office website.
  • Impact on Energy Drinks: The VAT increase will also apply to energy drinks containing at least 20% juice, which will see their rates rise from the current 5% (retail) and 8% (catering services).
  • Government Discussion Scheduled: The draft law detailing these changes is under preparation by the Ministry of Finance and is expected to be discussed by the government within the current quarter.
