Sovereign Brazil Plan Launched to Protect Exports from U.S. Tariffs

  • Launch of Sovereign Brazil Plan: In response to the 50% U.S. tariffs on Brazilian imports, the Brazilian Government has initiated the Sovereign Brazil Plan, which includes measures to support affected exporters and stabilize the industrial base.
  • Key Support Measures: The plan allows impacted companies to postpone federal tax and debt payments for two months, grants a one-year extension for exporters using tax-suspended inputs, and temporarily increases refund rates under the REINTEGRA regime for exporters based on their size.
  • Expanded Export Support: The Export Credit Insurance and Guarantee Fund (FGE) will be updated to enhance coverage for exporters, especially in high-tech and green sectors, while government entities will be permitted to purchase unsold food products originally intended for the U.S. market, bypassing standard procurement procedures.
