The Slovak President signed a bill on 26 June 2025 implementing EU Directive 2023/2226 (DAC8), introducing crypto-asset reporting and due diligence rules effective from 1 January 2026 with phased provisions.
-
DAC8 broadens tax reporting to include crypto-assets, enhancing transparency and combating tax fraud, based on OECD’s CARF and the updated Common Reporting Standard for financial account information exchange.
-
The President also signed excise duty and VAT amendments simplifying registration, standardizing CNG/LNG tax treatment, adjusting product tax rates, with both bills effective upon publication in the Collection of Laws.
