The Slovak President signed a bill on 26 June 2025 implementing EU Directive 2023/2226 (DAC8), introducing crypto-asset reporting and due diligence rules effective from 1 January 2026 with phased provisions.

DAC8 broadens tax reporting to include crypto-assets, enhancing transparency and combating tax fraud, based on OECD’s CARF and the updated Common Reporting Standard for financial account information exchange.

The President also signed excise duty and VAT amendments simplifying registration, standardizing CNG/LNG tax treatment, adjusting product tax rates, with both bills effective upon publication in the Collection of Laws.
