Plans to Introduce a Digital Services Tax Will Not Proceed

  • Revenue Minister Simon Watts confirmed the government’s decision to discontinue the Digital Services Tax Bill, originally introduced in 2023 due to delays in reaching a global consensus on digital taxation.

  • The decision reflects the government’s preference to support and align with a multilateral solution through international cooperation rather than implementing a unilateral digital services tax.

  • As a result, the Digital Services Tax Bill has been officially discharged from the legislative programme and will not be progressed further under the current administration.
