Pakistan Mandates Electronic Sales Tax Invoices for All Registered Persons Starting May 2025

  • The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) of Pakistan has mandated electronic invoicing for all registered taxpayers, with corporate entities required to start by May 1, 2025, and non-corporate entities by June 1, 2025.
  • Taxpayers must integrate their invoicing systems with the FBR’s centralized system, ensuring capabilities for real-time data transmission, secure digital signatures, and compliance with prescribed invoicing formats.
  • This initiative aims to improve tax compliance, curb evasion, and enhance documentation in Pakistan’s economy, requiring that all supplies occur through electronically integrated outlets with mandatory issuance of FBR invoices.
