- Mandatory B2G and Upcoming B2B E-Invoicing: Greece has implemented mandatory e-invoicing for business-to-government (B2G) transactions and is preparing to introduce a mandatory business-to-business (B2B) e-invoicing system, with the European Commission proposing to grant the necessary authorization for this initiative.
- Integration with myDATA System: The mandatory B2B e-invoicing will enhance Greece’s existing myDATA e-accounting system, which requires real-time transmission of transactional data to tax authorities, improving data quality and facilitating pre-filling of VAT returns.
- Compliance and Future Provisions: The proposed e-invoicing system will adhere to the European standard for interoperability, with taxpayers required to report only essential tax-related information to myDATA. The European Commission plans to authorize this system from July 1, 2025, until June 30, 2026, pending the official adoption of the VAT in the Digital Age (ViDA) proposal.
