- Since June 22, 2023, Egypt has imposed VAT obligations on non-resident vendors providing digital and remote services to Egyptian customers.
- Non-resident operators of electronic distribution platforms (EDPs) offering remote services to Egyptian residents are now required to pay VAT in Egypt.
- The VAT obligations differ for B2B transactions, where the Egyptian buyer is responsible for accounting for VAT under the Reverse Charge Scheme, and B2C transactions, where the obligations depend on whether the vendor uses their own portal or an EDP. Compliance with these obligations is important to avoid fines or legal actions as per VAT Law No. 67 of 2016.
