The 53rd GST Council, chaired by Union Minister for Finance & Corporate Affairs Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, recommended the phased roll-out of biometric-based Aadhaar authentication for GST registration applicants across India. This will enhance the registration process and counter fraudulent ITC claims using fake invoices.
