Saudi Arabia introduced e-invoicing through ZATCA in December 2021 to transform VAT-related invoicing for businesses. E-invoicing involves generating invoices electronically through specific solutions, not through scanned copies of paper invoices. There are two types of e-invoices in Saudi Arabia: standard for B2B and B2G transactions, and simplified for B2C transactions. E-invoices must include specific information and can be issued in Arabic with the option of a second language. Once issued, e-invoices cannot be altered, but adjustments can be made through debit or credit notes linked to the original invoice.
