Last month, California’s Senate Revenue and Taxation Committee held an informal hearing discussing digital taxes to fund local journalism. Following the hearing, California introduced A.B. 2829, on April 1, 2024, to impose a 5% tax on the annual gross revenues of a person derived from digital advertising services in California. The bill has not been set for hearing.
