The European Commission has launched a targeted consultation to gather feedback on the EU’s tax dispute resolution rules. The consultation aims to improve the framework for resolving cross-border tax disputes related to double taxation issues for businesses and citizens. The Directive on Tax Dispute Resolution Mechanisms (EU) 2017/1852, which came into force in 2019, introduced clearer rules and deadlines for resolving such disputes. The consultation, which began on 12 March 2024, will gather stakeholders’ views on the implementation of the Directive. The deadline for submission to the consultation is 10 May 2024.
