After announcing the preliminary e-invoicing schedule earlier this year, the IRBM, Malaysia’s internal revenue authority, updated project documentation with more definitive introduction dates.
Initially, the start of the e-invoicing mandate was set for June 1st, 2024. However, the current obligation start dates shifted slightly and are set as follows:
- August 1st, 2024, for taxpayers with turnover of > 100 million MYR per annum
- January 1st, 2025, for taxpayers with turnover of > 25 million MYR per annum
- July 1st, 2025, for all other taxpayers
At the same time, no further changes to the regime’s planned features were announced. Despite this slight delay, works around the prospective Continuous Transaction Control modeled system are proceeding, with more and more details being released by the month.
