To achieve economy-wide climate neutrality by 2050, the European Union has established a carbon border adjustment mechanism (hereafter referred to by its acronym CBAM, Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism).
The CBAM is a response to the risk of carbon leakage resulting from the introduction of harmonized prices for greenhouse gas emissions in the European Union established in previous regulations.
